A few projects

Here's a few shots of a Dead Tired Ghoulia that I modded into ah...actually I have no idea what she is. I just had fun messing with her. I used blue watercolor pencil for the henna tattoos on her legs, then gave her new makeup using chalk pastels, acrylics, and some gloss. She got a finishing hair piece from some beads that I strung then attached into her head with metal wire (haha sounds so violent). And then she got sewn into that dress because MH dolls are really hard to sew for.

And here's the progress of a Draculaura that I cut her hair off then ripped it out. The process goes, turn faucet on to hot, or heat water in microwave. Run doll neck and head under hot water for a while to soften, then begin to gently pull head off. There's prongs in the middle of the neck that you don't want to break accidentally getting her head off and to get the hair out, the head's gotta come off. So the idea is that the hot water will soften those prongs.

Then I chop her hair off because long hair is just a hassle to pull out if it's still long. And then the fun (read: horrible) part begins. You have to reach up into her head going from the neck and pull the hair out with a pair of jeweler's pliers or tweezers. They need to be long enough to get up to the top of her head but small enough that you don't need to cut her neck open to get them inside. Once in, you get to discover exactly how much glue is holding her damn hair in place. It's a lot. Like more than strictly necessary. Pretty sure you could use the same amount of glue to assemble a bookcase. But anyway, keep dunking the head into hot water to try and soften the glue, then shove your pliers or tweezers or whatever works into her head, grab a hunk (you might have to actually scrape the top of the head to get it to loosen) and pull gently. If you're lucky, it should come out in clumps and make her look like she's suffering radiation poisoning.

You want to pull through her neck down and not from the top up because if you pull up, you'll actually rip those tiny little plugs her hair got rooted through. That'd be fine if you wanted to glue a wig to her head but for rerooting you need those plugs whole. Once her hair is out, then you get the fun chore of getting that nasty black paint off of her skull. Seriously, why is it painted black there was a ton of hair covering her head already.

My plans for this girl include wiping her face (already done I just didn't take pictures) making her a new wig out of some fabulous wine mohair I got, sculpting clay wings and attaching those to her body somehow, and maybe if I get really ambitious making her goat hooves. Because I'm totally going to make her into a succubus from World of Warcraft. Because I'm a nerd.

Happy modding!
-Sam
